Happy is a state of being where energy is being gained and not lost, and where the quality of that energy is that it is moving in a direction that is finer and more subtle rather than coarser and more dense. Happy is first of all FEELING good unconditionally and comprehensively (Holistically). 

The thinking mind might precede this state, rest or participate within it or draw conclusions and/or react after the fact. But the thinking mind is but an aspect in this state called Happy - that is, Happy is the Whole!
